What we are learning at the moment
In the second half of the Autumn Term we have lots of exciting new topics to explore. We are also starting our build up towards exams in the second half of the year, so will be taking lots of opportunities to revisit key skills and build our confidence. Here's a few highlights of the new topics we'll be encountering this half-term.
Mathematics
Having spent time revisiting and learning new skills relating to place value and the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), we are now moving on to apply those skills in fractions. We will also be looking at converting between different units of measure.
English
We are moving on this term to look at Nina Bawden's beautiful text Carrie's War, following the lives of children who were evacuated to rural Wales in the Second World War.
History
We will be looking at the history of our local area in WW2, thinking about what the impact of large historical events was like on the area in which we live.
Science
We are continuing our focus on biology, looking at the vital role that different liquids play in our human bodies.
D.T.
In Design and Technology we are going to be cooking this term, thinking about some vital life skills that our pupils will hopefully carry with them. Maybe they'll even cook something tasty for you afterwards!
Computing
We are going to be studying the technology of Virtual Reality.
Music
We are practising playing together in an ensemble.
P.S.H.E.
We are thinking about celebrating differences, about what makes each and every one of us unique and special.
R.E.
We are looking at the tradition of Christianity, and focussing on the significance of Mary as the mother of Jesus.
