Maple Class (Year 2)
Hello and welcome to Year 2 (Maple Class)
My name is Miss Farrell and I am the class teacher this year supported by Miss Mac (TA – all day), Miss Muldoon (1:1 support). Miss Weston (HLTA) will be teaching the class on a Monday afternoon and Friday mornings.
In Year 2 we have “Star of the Day” where a child is picked at the end of each day for something that has been a “wow” for staff that day – they will be allowed to choose a reward from the “Star of the Day box”.
At the end of the week in celebration assembly someone will be chosen for standing out in class throughout the week and receive “Pupil of the week”.
P.E. happens on a Tuesday and all children need to come to school in P.E. uniform (white t-shirt, black shorts or tracksuit bottoms and school cardigan or jumper and trainers) normal school uniform is to be worn on all other days.
Reading happens each day through our Read Write Inc scheme that supports the learning of phonics. Your child will bring home a new reading book each Friday, it is important that the children are reading as many times throughout the week as possible and then returning their books on a Thursday to be swapped and given back out on a Friday. Please ensure you sign the reading record book so we know if your child has read or not (as they will receive 5 dojo’s for this!)
