  • What we are learning at the moment

    Mathematics

In Maths we are continuing to build our proportional reasoning, thinking about the relationship between numbers. This starts with ratio: if it takes 15 grams of flour to make 6 cupcakes, how many grams do we need to make 60? Or just 3? We then move on to think about the relationship between fractions, decimals and percentages.

We will also be having our first formal experiences of algebra, which is one of my favourite topics!

    Science

Our new Science topic is all about how water is transported around the body, focussing on the vital role that our kidneys play in keeping us healthy and alive.

    Geography

In Geography we will be learning all about human settlements. What is the difference between a hamlet and a town? What counts as a city? Why do we find large settlements in some locations and not in others? We will also be thinking about ways in which the physical environment shapes human choices about where and how to build: why is Liverpool where it is?

    Art

Our next Art and Design topic looks at L.S. Lowry, the famous painter who captured the urban environments of the North West of England during the industrial revolution. We will look at the elements of his signature style, thinking about why he chose to dwell on ordinary streets and buildings rather than the exceptional or sublime like Turner did.

    Computing

We are learning all about how to make and update a blog.

We are moving on to work on invasion games, focussing on our basketball skills.
