Hello, and welcome to Acorn Class!
I’m Mrs Dornan, the class teacher and Early Years Lead. I work in Nursery with Mrs Metcalfe and Miss Lok.

Please see our curriculum tab for an overview of our intended learning, and our gallery tab for photos of some of our various learning.
We are currently exploring - Hot and cold places. We will be following the children's interests and enquiries throughout this, as well as building the foundations for further learning around this in Reception.
We are continuing to use the four categories from Tales Toolkit (Character, Setting, Problem and Solution) alongside techniques from the Are You Really Reading Projects during our stories, to help us with our reading, and develop our own story telling skills.
We will be continuing to learn a rhyme of the week each week which will be added to class dojo. Our skill of the week and word(s) of the week are also added to class dojo weekly.
The Headlines:
All EYFS classes work closely together as a unit, where we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. We are able to access both indoor and outdoor environments and enjoy playing and learning together. We have key workers for each child who are decided after a settling in period, and a letter will be sent out to inform you who your child’s key worker is.
Throughout the year we look at broad themes and topics, including ourselves, the seasons, traditional tales and celebrations, to name but a few. In these topics we will aim to follow the children’s interests and ideas, and for our younger children, schemas. This may lead us into other mini-topics, taking the classes in different directions; so be sure to ask your child, check our learning journey wall and pop back to our page to see our most current learning. Don't forget, we also have our Class Dojo page and online observations (Tapestry) to keep you involved in your child's learning.
Reminders:
Thank you for your support and we look forward to a fantastic year!
