Hello, and welcome to Acorn Class!
I’m Mrs Dornan, the class teacher and Early Years Lead. I work in Nursery with Mrs Metcalfe and Miss Hassan.

Summer One - this half term we are exploring growing and changing. We are looking at the life cycles of caterpillars and frogs, how plants grow and how we have grown and changed this year.
We will be observing our own caterpillars and releasing them in our outdoor area; exploring the different stages of frog life cycles; planting and growing our own seeds; tasting and exploring different fruits and vegetables and exploring our own history.
For more information about our learning this term please take a look at the curriculum tab, and as the half term progresses, the gallery tab.
Both Nursery and Reception work closely together as a unit where we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. We are able to access both indoor and outdoor environments and enjoy playing and learning together. We have key workers for each child and a letter will be sent out to inform you who your child’s key worker is.
Throughout the year we look at broad themes and topics, including ourselves, the seasons, traditional tales and celebrations, to name but a few. In these topics we will aim to follow the children’s interests and ideas. This may lead us into other mini-topics, taking the classes in different directions; so be sure to ask your child, check our learning journey wall and pop back to our page to see our most current learning. Don't forget, we also have our Class Dojo page and online observations to keep you involved in your child's learning.
Reminders:
Thank you for your support and we look forward to a fantastic year!
