Hello, and welcome to Elm Class!

I’m Miss Brennan, the class teacher and Music Lead. I work in Reception with Miss Lok and Miss Corkill.

We are currently exploring - Myself and My World. We will be looking at our families and routines both in and out of school and having a closer look at what makes us unique.

This half-term our English text will be 'The Something' by Rebecca Cobb. It is a delightful tale of imagination, excitement and creativity. The children will create their own world using their imaginations. We will begin to use initial sounds from our phonics lessons to start to create our very own sentences.

In Maths, we will be looking at strategies to match and sort different objects and creating and continuing simple patterns. 

We will begin to learn Set 1 Read Write Inc sounds and play lots of Fred talk games in order to help us begin to blend known words together. This will be the beginning of our reading journey together.

There will be a big focus on making marks this half-term and moving our bodies in ways that will eventually help us to form letters.
